Nelson’s books can only be described as deep and powerful observations about life, his life as a young, Black man, and life in general, advice, encouragement and thoughtful dialogue.
Themes central to Nelson’s books include: toxic masculinity, self-reflection, poetry, forgiveness, mental illness, family values, education, Christianity, spirituality, women, self identity, education and so much more.
Here’s a little more about Nelson
Nelson has served as one of the writers, artists, and editors of the Community College of Baltimore County’s literary magazine, Fine Print, and as the secretary of the Project Spark Success Team. He’s received numerous awards for his service and dedication to community service projects, and academic achievements, both locally and nationally. In addition to being a sociology student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, he’s been with the Maryland Department of the Environment under the Land & Materials Administration’s Lead Poisoning Prevention program. Currently, he is completing a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. He’s also completed his training as a Small Groups Facilitator in the spring of 2019 and received his very first Author of the Year award from the 2019 Newsome Gospel Music Awards and a second Author of the Year award from the 2020 Newsome Gospel Music Awards that recognized his debut book back in 2018 The Beauty In Us: Our Reality (Volume #1) and the 2nd installment in 2020, The Beauty In Us: Vulnerable Masculinity (Volume #2).
Nelson is the host of The Beauty In Us Radio on Awesome God Radio where he is using his voice to talk about subjects that not only come from a perspective of young, black men but also others in the community doing extraordinary things for others and with their own life pursuits.
