Introducing Disability: An Anecdotal Field Guide For the Rest of Us

Let me tell you there is no way, there is only working with what you have as best you can.

That’s what my parents did for me early on and then I had to keep doing whatever they did and make the best of it. What people think and what the dealy-o is are very different things and many folks are wrong because they aren’t you! This is your  life, this is what you got to work with.

Along the journey, because I’m a writer and all (and very observant), I started to take detailed notes on various life aspects and I recalled all that impeded my progress, got in my way, and how I removed each one and dealt with it all despite the things that try to stop me. There is no stopping any of us, except for the mental blocks we must first learn to master and then watch out, we will find an accessible path.

In these 9 brief but robust topic themes, I’m telling you all about what I encountered, what went wrong and right and how I overcame the situation with tips and ideas to help you create a plan for yourself. While these topics are short, it’s my hope not to belabor any of the points I’m making and clutter the text with a lot of historical thought, useless innuendo and simply too much for you to get a sense of what you can do and set about doing it. There is nothing wrong with meandering a little bit but I save that for my fiction. Perhaps for readers, my hope is that this project can become a reference guide, and something you’ll come back to again and again.
